FIRBESON HVAC PRODUCTS

Firbeson designs and manufactures electric damper actuators and valves for HVAC airflow control, fire and smoke safety, and fluid regulation.

Damper Actuators & Valves for HVAC and Fire Safety

Our range covers three families of product: standard damper actuators for everyday ventilation control, spring return and fire-rated actuators for life-safety applications, and electric control ball valves for water, steam and glycol systems. Torque ratings run from 2 Nm to 40 Nm, with 24 V and 230 V supply options, two-point, three-point and modulating control, and IP54 protection throughout. All models integrate with standard building management systems and are supplied with a global five-year warranty. Standard Damper Actuators

Standard

Standard Damper Actuators

Non-spring return actuators for precise airflow control in commercial and industrial ventilation systems. The F30A range holds its position on loss of power, making it suited to modulating duties where a defined fail-safe position isn't required.

The series covers six torque ratings from 2 Nm to 40 Nm, handling damper areas up to 8 m². Both two/three-point and modulating control are available, with 0(2)–10 V and 0(4)–20 mA signal options and switchable input impedance via an onboard dial switch. Optional auxiliary switches provide two SPDT contacts for position feedback.

Three variants are available: the standard actuator for general HVAC use, a low noise version rated at ≤35 dB for noise-sensitive environments such as offices, hotels and healthcare, and a fast running version with travel times from 2.5 seconds where rapid airflow response is required.

  • Torque: 2, 5, 10, 20, 30, 40 Nm
  • Supply: AC/DC 24 V or AC 230 V
  • Control: 2/3 point, 0(2)–10 V or 0(4)–20 mA
  • IP54 · −30 to +50 °C · ≥70,000 cycles
  • CE, UKCA, UL, RoHS

Fire & Smoke

Fire & Smoke Damper Actuators

Actuators for applications where damper position must be guaranteed under emergency conditions, covering fire compartmentation, smoke extraction and fail-safe ventilation control.

The F30S series provides spring return operation from 3.5 Nm to 20 Nm. On loss of power or control signal, a charged spring drives the damper to its predetermined safe position in under 30 seconds, with two-point and 0(2)–10 V modulating control available and optional SPDT auxiliary switches.

The F30F series adds features specific to fire and smoke duties. Two SPDT auxiliary switches are fitted as standard, and an optional 72 °C thermal sensor provides both ambient and duct probes, either of which disconnects the supply on over-temperature to trigger closure. Manual override with a locking key allows the damper to be set and held during commissioning and periodic testing.

The F30N series is non-spring return, covering higher torque duties from 10 Nm to 40 Nm for larger smoke damper installations where a motorised return is specified in place of a spring.

  • Torque: 3.5–20 Nm (F30S, F30F) · 10–40 Nm (F30N)
  • Spring return under 30 seconds (F30S, F30F)
  • Optional 72 °C ambient and duct thermal sensor (F30F)
  • Ambient −30 to +55 °C · max safe operating temp 75 °C (F30F, F30N)
  • Manual override for commissioning and testing
  • CE, UKCA, UL, RoHS

Electric Control Ball Valves

Valve

Electric Control Ball Valves

Motorised valve assemblies for accurate flow control of water, steam and 50% ethylene glycol in HVAC and industrial systems.

Available in two-way and three-way configurations from DN15 to DN150, with Kv values from 2.5 to 260 m³/h. Valves are matched to F30A actuators from 5 Nm to 40 Nm depending on diameter, and offer equal percentage flow characteristics with three control modes: on/off switching, floating point, and continuous modulation.

DN15 to DN50 sizes use BSPP parallel thread connections and are rated to 2.0 MPa; DN65 to DN150 are flanged and rated to 1.6 MPa. Three-way models are available in both mixing and diverting arrangements.

  • Sizes: DN15–DN150, two-way and three-way
  • Kv: 2.5–260 m³/h
  • Equal percentage flow characteristic
  • 2.0 MPa (DN15–50) · 1.6 MPa (DN65–150)
  • Media: water, steam, 50% glycol
  • Rotation 0–90°, differential pressure 0.35 MPa
